Interesting application of biometrics, GPS tracking, mesh networks and wireless communications for monitoring first responders to hazardous incidents. The concept could be applied to any ad hoc collection of people, vehicles, sensors or other equipment that require location and status reporting.

Updated Globalstar Coverage Map

Globalstar has been busy updating coverage for its simplex data messaging service which is the basis for transmissions in the Guardian Skytrax, Tracer and Sentinel. We have found these maps to be fairly accurate for coverage of our ground-based Tracers and Sentinels. Since Skytrax devices transmit from higher altitudes, they have a greater effective visibility of satellites and this results in better coverage than is indicated on the map above.

Cain's Quest Snowmobile Race Tracking

Waypoint Information Technology Inc., Guardian Mobility Corporation are pleased to support the Cain's Quest Snowmobile Race.

Starting March 18, 2006 at 9:00 AM, Cain’s Quest will take participants on an incredible journey through the Labrador wilderness. The race will entail an approximate 1200 km trek on ungroomed trails where teams of two riders and their snowmachines race to the finish. Riders will travel rough terrain, brave sub-zero temperatures and test man against machine for a chance at the prize purse and of course bragging rights.

With Real Time satellite tracking latitude and longitude of each team can be tracked at regular intervals. The latest position of teams will be transmitted to the Guardian network server over Globalstar communications satellites. The positions will then digitally plotted on a detailed topographic map of the route using technology developed by Waypoint.

To view the race go to http://www.waypointinfo.com/cainsquest

p.s. We're giving away 2 tickets to the Cain's Quest Closing Ceremonies and Awards in Labrador City on the 24th of March (includes Cocktails and Dinner). First person to e-mail tracer@guardianmobility.com get the tickets shipped overnight.

Dear Maptracs Customer:

Guardian Mobility announces the release of an updated and improved version of maptracs web-enabled mapping solution for Skytrax, Tracer and Sentinel products.

On February 7, the maptracs will include several new and enhanced features including the following:

Geofences:
Using a graphical interface, define geographic regions that are important to the location and movement of your tracked assets.

Geofence Events and Alarms:
Send email notifications when your assets enter or leave geofenced regions.

Secure Geofence Access:
Delegate control and Geofence assignment to users through maptracs' comprehensive access control interface.

Notification Lists:
Generate notification lists that include existing users or external email addresses.

Enhanced in this release:

Upgraded Trip Processor:
Improved trip logic and symbols, clearly show trip beginnings, stops (pauses) and ends.
Points recorded while an asset is temporarily stationary, such as a pause in a trip, are shown as stationary nodes at lower zoom levels.

How will this affect my users?

In order to fully support notification lists, email addresses are now required for all new users and for any user whose data is edited.
After the upgrade, your trips display will show new symbols: small green circles for trip starts, large red circles for trip finishes, with medium-sized circles in the track colour indicating temporary stops.

For more information, check the Help files on the new system, call our support number (613-225-8885) or contact tirwin@guardianmobility.com to schedule a free telephone walk-through of our new and enhanced features.
