Guardian’s NEWEST Skytrax Product Operates With The Iridium Satellite System.
July 14, 2008, Ottawa, Canada: Guardian Mobility, the company that pioneered the use of low cost, easy to use, portable devices for aircraft tracking, has announced the introduction of its first new products designed to operate with the Iridium satellite system.Â
SKYTRAX 3i and SKYTRAX 3xi
Both products share the same electronics hub, containing a GPS receiver and an Iridium modem providing global coverage for aircraft tracking.  The unit is powered by any 12V to 28V power input. The enclosure is FAR 25.853 compliant, small in size, easy to carry or easy to permanently install. It’s one of the lightest products in the industry.
Choice of Configurations – Portable and Fixed External Antenna
SKYTRAX 3i is provided with one small GPS and one Iridium antenna. Designed to be mounted internally, it is ideal for helicopters and many other fixed-wing aircraft.
SKYTRAX 3xi is provided with a dual mode GPS-Iridium antenna. The antenna is mounted externally on the aircraft skin with an unobstructed view of the sky and with the electronics hub mounted inside. The antenna is TSO144C certified.

Commenting on the announcement, Jean Carr, CEO of Guardian Mobility said the new products create a much larger addressable market for the company. “This is a significant development for us. These products address an important pent up demand from our existing customers who need expanded satellite coverage. In addition to our traditional markets, these new products will be of interest to a number of new customer segments including business jet market. It is significant that our initial product installations will be used on five continents”
